Special project GAA 2007 UPDATE

CONSULTATION ABOUT WOMEN’S MINISTRIES IN THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF AUSTRALIA (PCA).

In 2004 the General Assembly of Australia (GAA) appointed the WMPCQ committee to consult widely with the Presbyterian Church and investigate the ministries and roles available to women in the Church. The report and deliverances were accepted in September at the GAA meeting. The result is that there is a new committee to oversee the implementation of the report.

NEW Committee members:

  • John McClean (convener)
  • Andrea Pryde
  • Cecelia Orford
  • Ngaire Moore

Conference August 15th -16th, 2009

The report includes:

  • Five voices of the people in the church on women’s ministries,
  • Implementation strategies for church leaders to activate women in the church and to build capacity in the church,
  • A biblical, balanced and informed picture of the current status and future possibilities of women’s ministries in the PCA,
  • Resources to assist leaders to promote the range of “women’s ministries” under the authority of those holding office within the church,
  • A PEOPLE Model (2007) for practical application of women’s ministry,
  • Encouragement for both men and women to examine their attitudes to women’s ministries and ensure that their gift use is Biblical.
The committee continue to encourage the church to focus on unity, encouragement, equipping, support and using their gifts for God’s glory.

Please pray for the ongoing implementations of this project.
